Brig Bay 25.5" x 29.5" Mixed media on paper, Original Sold | Print Available
Brig Bay is located on Big Corn Island in the Caribbean Ocean. It is a territory of Nicaragua. While on an expedition to draw Spanish Colonial style buildings in Granada, I decided to make a side trip to this small, isolated island and here I discovered this unusual hut. Seemly oblivious to the spectacular views at its back, the house is oriented inland toward the path that leads into Brig Bay. For this painting, I originally approached the house from the other side, but as I drew near to the place I observed a number of wooden coffins strewn about the property. Reasoning that this was the manufacturer's home made it no less unsettling. I resolved to approach from the other side where I collected reference material for the piece.
